Ladle it into bowls, top with shredded cheese or a topping of choice, and enjoy while watching the game.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can fire-roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • Tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 4 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Shredded cheese, for serving

Steps

  1. Set your cooker to Sear/Sauté and let it preheat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  2. Toss in the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic. Stir well to combine with the beef.
  3. Add the fire-roasted diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and beef broth. Give everything a thorough stir.
  4. Add chili powder, cumin, oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir to distribute the seasonings evenly.
  5. Cover and let the chili simmer on low for a couple of hours so all the rich flavors blend together.
  6. Ladle into bowls, top with shredded cheese or a topping of choice, and enjoy.

Linewife notes

  • Sear first: Browning the beef on Sear/Sauté is what gives the chili that deep flavor before it simmers.
  • Give it time: A couple of hours on low is the whole point. Don’t rush it.
  • Toppings of choice: Shredded cheese is what I used. Use whatever you like on game day.
